Abstract
Recently, various studies have proposed a paging subgroup method that shares a paging cycle to avoid a paging malfunction and reduce the power consumption of the UE. The proposed method uses and shares the same paging subgroup ID when the UE is in an idle or inactive state. The paging subgroup ID is controlled by the RAN or CN and transmitted to the UE. However, in the sidelink for direct communication between UEs, control by RAN or CN is inefficient. Therefore, this paper proposes a method and procedure for assigning paging subgroup IDs controlled by the UE. Through a simple simulation, the method controlled by the UE and the method controlled by the RAN or CN is compared. Through the simulation results, it is verified that the proposed method has good performance.
