Abstract
A segment routing (SR) is a source-routing architecture in which a node steers packets through an ordered list of instructions called 'segments'. The ordered list can be decided in a programmable way considering the service and topological requirements. The programmable nature of SR makes it as a enabling technology to provide end - to-end service connectivity in future networks. In this paper, we propose a service-centric programmable network (SPN) architecture using the Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), composed of SPN nodes, an SPN controller, and SPN applications. As a way of providing service-centric programmability in the architecture, we also present a mechanism that a proper segment list is dynamically selected among multiple options based on the result of processing a designated function in an SPN node.
