Abstract
This paper presents the topology of a novel approach to magnetic communication using a coil antenna-based transmitted system and a differential magnetic induction (MI) based receiver system with a differential MI sensor in underground mines. The test results of magnetic communication in a limestone underground mine are presented. The test results confirm that wireless digital communication using using quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) is possible between Tx and Rx at a distance of about 40 m. The test results confirmed that the proposed system can be utilized in underground mining environments.
