Abstract
In this study, a human-care robot was equipped with artificial intelligence to evaluate the usefulness and performance of robot-assisted care services for older adults in a real-world setting. The participants of this study were two older adults who lived alone and had normal cognitive function. We provided the participants with a clear explanation of how to participate in the study and requested their consent to collect data after the use of the robot service in their homes. The success rates and user satisfaction were analyzed for each of the several specific services provided by the care robot, as well as the users’ perceptions of robots. In conclusion, the quantitative evaluation indicated a high success rate and user satisfaction for most services, with some exceptions. However, the qualitative evaluation did not reveal a significant change in life satisfaction, but a positive perception of the robot was maintained.
