Abstract
This work presents a high-performance planar heater that generates a high-temperature heat even in cold water environments. The planar heater was fabricated with low-dimensional composites prepared with MXene, carbon nanotube (CNT), and waterborne polyurethane (WPU) on polyimide (PI) film by blade coating. The planar heater installed in life-jacket was rapidly heated up to 73 °C in 1 min at 3.6 V in the atmosphere. For a cold water of 5 °C, the planar heater combined with the insulating film was effectively heated and maintained in 45–50 °C at 3.6 V due to the insulation effect for cold water. Thus, the insulated planar heater generates a heat of high temperature and can effectively transfer more heat to the body even in the cold water. Our developed planar heater will be expected to be utilized as a suitable wearable heating device for cold environments.
