Abstract
The Aeronautical Earth Stations in Motion (A-ESIM) operating in the 27.5-29.5 GHz (Earth-to-space direction) frequency band which communicate with Non-GSO space stations has different interference scenario compared to GSO A-ESIM with respect to terrestrial services. Taking into account characteristics of Non-GSO A-ESIM operation, this paper assessed the aggregate interference impact caused by multiple Non-GSO A-ESIM operating in the same frequency band to terrestrial station was computed to verify whether the PFD limits for GSO A-ESIM as the operating conditions for Non-GSO A-ESIM would be appropriate to ensure the protection of terrestrial services or not. The simulation results indicated that the terrestrial station would not be protected from the emission of Non-GSO A-ESIM complying with PFD limit for GSO AESIM, so new frequency sharing conditions for Non-GSO AESIM are needed to ensure the compatibility of two services operating in the same frequency band. In addition, this paper proposes some measures for Non-GSO A-ESIM to utilize the spectrum efficiently while protecting existing terrestrial services.
