Abstract
This paper describes the design and development of a liquid-cooled self-made ARM-based server node for high-performance computing systems. The developed ARM server node is tested under air-cooled and liquid-cooled environment for initial performance evaluation. The developed ARM server is based on single socket ARM processor as a main processor and designed to be equipped with a self-made dual accelerator SoC for supercomputing. The sever is also designed to support a liquid-cooled system to control heat dissipation during high-speed operation. To evaluate the performance of the designed and developed ARM server, HPL benchmark is performed to measure and evaluate performance under air-cooled and liquid-cooled environments. The performance of the manufactured ARM server is measured and it shows a performance of 1.2878 TeraFLOP/s at 2.99 GHz and an average processor temperature of 56.8°C during HPL execution in a liquid-cooling prototype HW environment.
