Abstract
This paper provides performance evaluation results of two broadcasting technologies from different origin, that is, 5G Broadcast and ATSC 3.0 as cellular broadcasting solutions. Their physical-layer capabilities are evaluated through theoretical point of view and block error rate (BLER) performance. The evaluation results demonstrate that the performance of 5G Broadcast has improved with efficient NR RAN compared to LTE-RAN based solutions. Meanwhile, ATSC 3.0 outperforms 5G Broadcast in cellular broadcasting scenarios, attributed to the utilization of a time interleaver and well-designed bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM).
