Abstract
This paper presents a novel approach to packet forwarding in converged networks tailored for 6G mobile communication systems. The existing architecture, which separates the Core Network (CN) and Radio Access Network (RAN), faces limitations in signaling efficiency and processing performance. To address these challenges, the proposed framework integrates RAN, CN, and Transport Network (TN) functions into a unified architecture, utilizing Segment Routing IPv6 (SRv6) technology for more flexible and efficient packet routing. This method improves upon traditional GTP-U tunneling, enabling better network resource utilization and service quality. The paper details the establishment of user data paths and packet forwarding operations within this converged network, offering insights into its potential benefits for future mobile networks.
