Abstract
Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6) is rapidly gaining traction as a robust method for simplifying network operations and enhancing scalability. This paper introduces Helios, a novel SRv6 controller that leverages the Open Network Operating System (ONOS) and the capabilities of P4 Runtime. Helios is designed to seamlessly integrate with SONiC, a network operating system that supports P4 Runtime, thereby offering enhanced control across both datacenter and ISP networks. This study outlines the design principles of Helios, its compatibility with ONOS, and its operational benefits in diverse networking environments.
