Abstract
High throughput and flexible satellites for next generation satellite communication systems require array fed reflector antennas with compact feed networks because many feed elements should be used. In this paper, we propose a compact feed network for narrower element spacing and smaller volumes. By implementing an integrated circular polarization horn instead of a separate polarizer, the resulting length of the circular polarization horn is approximately 1.3λ. In addition, a structure in which a waffle-type plate covers the feed aperture is presented to improve axial ratio. The feed network has an efficiency of over 90 % and an axial ratio of less than 0.8 dB over the operating frequency band.
