Abstract
The ongoing climate crisis has emphasized the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with energy efficiency playing a critical role in this effort. As energy consumption is directly linked to carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency is essential to mitigating the impacts of climate change. Accurate energy consumption data is crucial for identifying inefficient aspects of energy use, which can drive better energy management strategies. However, residential energy data often contains duplicate data or outliers, which can distort analysis and lead to incorrect conclusions. This paper proposes criteria to effectively identify and remove such issues in residential energy consumption data, considering the variability in consumption patterns across households.
