Abstract
An L band antenna for the communication satellite at geo-stationary orbit 128.2oE, to be launched in 2027, is being developed to provide data collection service. This paper presents the design results of the qualification model array antenna for the satellite payload. It has helix radiating elements and a beamforming network. Before design phase for the antenna level, a single element and a diplexer were fabricated and measured to verify the design method. Good agreement between simulation and measurement was confirmed. To meet the gain requirement, the 13 helical elements for the array antenna was chosen. The designed antenna has greater than 20.4dBi at receiving frequency and 19.7dBi at transmitting frequency over the coverage area.
