Abstract
We propose a transmissive/reflective hybrid frequency selective surface (FSS) with wide transmission and reflection band for millimeter-wave systems. The proposed FSS improves the bandwidth using a split square loop, square patch, and cross-strip. Moreover, the FSS forms a diode strip on a square patch and adds a PIN diode such that the transmission and reflection characteristics are determined by the ON/OFF state of the PIN diode. Simulations confirm that the transmission and reflection characteristics in the 21-31 GHz frequency band, depending on the ON/OFF state of the pin diode.
