Abstract
The 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) introduces new concepts such as bandwidth (BW) parts and flexible frequency locations of the synchronization block for efficiency. To address these concepts, we need to consider situations where the trans-mitter (Tx) with a broader BW communicates with the receiver (Rx) of a narrower BW. To mitigate the effect of the mismatch in center frequency at the Tx and Rx, 3GPP NR adapts phase compensation in the upconversion and modulation procedures. In this paper, we confirm that the phase compensation for the Rx is similar to that of the Tx and can be performed in the baseband signal domain. Additionally, we examine the phases to be compensated and discover that they exhibit periodic properties. By exploiting this periodicity, we suggest an efficient phase compensation method in the baseband for the frequency conversion process under 5G NR.
