Abstract
This paper presents a flat-top scattering metasurface for extending the next-generation mobile communication coverage. The scattering metasurface can be modeled using an array model, and the reflection phases of the unit cells are optimized using a genetic algorithm (GA). The optimized scattering metasurfaces are verified in full-wave simulation. The simulation results show that this approach is valid for both normal (i.e., θi=0°) and oblique incidence (i.e., θi=15°, 30°, and 45°).
