본 논문은 MPEG-4 LASeR (Lightweight Application Scene Representation)의 PMSI (Presentation & Modification Structured In- formation) 표준 기술에 기반을 둔 효율적인 리치미디어 프레임워크를 제안한다. 리치미디어 서비스란, 기존 AV 중심의 단순시청형 미디어 서비스를 넘어서 이용자에게 동적인 업데이트나 대화형 기능을 추가로 제공하고 텍스트, 오디오, 동영상등의 다양한 미디어를 포함하는 복합적인 형태의 미디어 서비스를 의미한다. 국제표준 규격인 MPEG-4에는 리치미디어 서비스를 제공 할 수 있는 LASeR를 포함하고 있다. 근래에 MPEG에서는 LASeR표준에 구조화된 정보의 표현 및 수정 방법인 PMSI 기술을 추가하였다. 이 기술은 장면서술정보에서 구조화된 정보의 일부분을 참조하여 장면에 효과적으로 표현해주는 기술이다. 구현된 리치미디어 애플리케이션에서는 MPEG-4 LASeR표준의 PMSI기술을 이용하여 이용자들에게 ‘위젯’과 같은 서비스를 제공한다. 제안된 애플리케이션은 PMSI 기술을 이용하여 PI (Presentation Information) 에서 SI (Structured Information)를 참조하고, SI를 장면에 표현해준다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 프레임워크에 활용된 기술적 구성요소들을 서술하고, 실험결과를 통하여 애플리케이션 프레임워크의 구조를 제시하며, 적용 가능한 서비스를 제안한다.
