Abstract
A simple coordinated switching scheme for forward and backward link transmission pairs is proposed for distributed TRP/reader deployments in Ambient IoT systems. As the coverage of Ambient IoT systems is generally limited by the relatively high minimum sensitivity and low transmit power of the device's backscattered signal, the proposed method aims to achieve a suitable reader-to-device SINR by controlling the interference level from neighboring TRPs' RF energy transmissions. Additionally, turning off the RF energy signals from neighboring TRPs/readers during the backward link period can lead to a higher device-toreader SINR and a reduced probability of collisions. Numerical results demonstrate a significant reduction in inventory check procedure time and improved coverage compared to conventional multi-cell configurations.
