Abstract
We propose a clustering-based pilot assignment scheme to mitigate pilot contamination in cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output systems. To reduce computational complexity, the proposed scheme initially clusters user equipment based on their geographical locations. Within each cluster, pilot assignment employs a graph coloring technique to eliminate intra-cluster pilot contamination. Additionally, color adjustment is used for pilot reassignment to minimize inter-cluster contamination. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme achieves the highest uplink throughput compared to existing techniques.
