Abstract
The media streaming service is one of the most popular services in nowadays. In order to relieve service provider from operating burden P2P-based service was adopted. Overlay multicast which is one of P2P technology is used for media streaming service. There two previous works which one is for simplex service and the other for N-plex service. Although those protocols are enough to used in media streaming service, it is not considered that the Head node re-election method which previous protocols use may take time enough to incur degradation of service quality or even service discontinuation in worst case. In this paper, we propose an advanced method for Head node re-election to resolve the problems which can be occurred. Through our method, at most 60% of time required for Head node re-election can be reduced.
