Abstract
As the demand for higher compression efficiency continues to grow, the Joint Video Experts Team (JVET) has been exploring advanced video coding technologies beyond the capabilities of the Versatile Video Coding (VVC). This paper presents extensions of bilateral filtering (BF) to enhance intra prediction by applying it to Regression-based Spatial Geometric Partitioning Mode (R-SGPM) and by introducing a blending-adaptive condition that adjusts its applications according to the prediction mode. Experimental results under the All Intra (AI) configuration demonstrate coding gains over ECM-18.0, achieving a BD-rate reduction 0.03% in Y.
