Abstract
In response to the demand for higher compression efficiency, the JVET is investigating next generation video coding technologies aimed at enhancing the latest standard, Versatile Video Coding (VVC). In this paper, we propose a method to improve intra prediction fusion in Enhanced Compression Model (ECM) by using 8-tap cubic interpolation filter at each predictor. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method alleviates the excessive smoothing that may occur when smoothing filters are used in prediction, thereby improving coding efficiency.
