본 논문에서는 ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle)가 저가형 상용 USBL(Ultra-Short BaseLine)을 이용하여
transponder modem 이 설치된 해상풍력터빈 근방에서 임무를 수행하는 시뮬레이션 시험환경을 구축하였다.
USBL 방식은 기존의 구조물에 설치되어 주로 사용되는 LBL(Long BaseLine) 방식보다 거리 측정치의 정확도는
낮지만 추가적인 방향각, 고도각 정보를 획득할 수 있으며, 운영 비용이 적다는 장점이 있다. 다만 ROV 에 탑재된
USBL Transceiver 와 transponder 사이의 거리가 짧을수록 정확한 측정치를 제공하기 때문에, 실제로 USBL 은
ROV 와 밀접한 환경에서 운용되는 USV(Unmmaned Surface Vehicle)과 함께 많이 활용된다. 그러나 ROV 가
수중에서 구조물 점검, 측량, 유지보수 등의 임무를 수용하기 위해서는 목표물 근방에서 활동해야 한다. 따라서
이러한 미션들을 수행 목적으로 활용되는 ROV 에는 USBL 을 활용하여 측위 시스템을 구성하면 ROV 운용 시스템의
구축 비용을 크게 절감할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 수중환경 시뮬레이터에 transponder modem 을 부착한
4 개의 해상풍력터빈 모델을 구축하였다. 해당 환경에서 ROV 의 USBL 기반 측위 환경에 대한 PoC 시험을 수행하고,
향후 활용 가능성에 분석하였다.
