Abstract
This study analyzed the correlation between force plate data and pelvic-mounted accelerometer data to evaluate the stability of body movement. Data were collected from five subjects performing 30 squat repetitions and 20 minutes of seated smartphone use. The Mean Moment Radius (MMR), quantifying force plate moment deviations, was compared against the RMS ratio of horizontal to vertical acceleration obtained from an IMU sensor. The analysis confirmed a statistically significant positive correlation between the two indices, with a notably higher correlation observed during the prolonged seated condition. These findings suggest that pelvic acceleration data can serve as a valid indicator of postural balance, and point to the future feasibility of a real-time balance monitoring system using a single accelerometer alone.
