Abstract
In medium-range magnetic field communication links over 100 m, the received signal becomes weak due to reduced coupling, and its sensitivity and demodulation performance are severely degraded by 60 Hz power-line interference and external broadband noise. To address these issues, this paper proposes an IC-based miniaturized receiver front-end composed of a low-noise amplifier (LNA) and a band-pass filter (BPF). The BPF was implemented using the LTC1562 with tunable center frequency and bandwidth, while the LNA was realized as a non-inverting amplifier based on the VCA821 with programmable gain. Experimental results show that the proposed front-end improves EVM from 10.9% to 4.2% and Eb/N0 from 25.3 dB to 35.2 dB, achieving about 10 dB gain in Eb/N0 and a 61% reduction in EVM. These results confirm that the proposed compact IC-based receiver front-end is effective for improving weak-signal reception and demodulation quality in magnetic field communication systems.
