Abstract
This paper presents a bandwidth-enhanced cyclically charged floating-inverter amplifier (CCFIA) for low-supply-voltage mixed-signal systems. Inverter-based amplifiers achieve high current efficiency through current reuse; however, their operation is limited by the reduced voltage headroom in scaled CMOS technologies. To alleviate this constraint, the proposed modified CC-FIA employs series-connected reservoir capacitor arrays that increase the effective supply voltage across the floating-inverter core during amplification, thereby enabling operation from a low supply voltage of digital systems. The proposed amplifier also provides digitally adjustable bandwidth without requiring a static bias current source. Designed in a 65-nm CMOS process, the proposed amplifier reduces the required supply voltage by 43.3% compared with a conventional CC-FIA while achieving the same average −3dB bandwidth.
