Abstract
IEC TC77 SC77C establishes appropriate equipment immunity testing levels for E1 HEMP threats by considering the electromagnetic environment at the equipment’s location. This paper analyzes the radiated and conducted disturbance environments across six principal protection concepts defined in IEC 61000-6-6 and IEC 61000-2-11. While radiated disturbance levels decrease consistently according to the applied protection concept, conducted disturbance levels exhibit certain discrepancies and lack a corresponding reduction in some areas. To ensure clarity for standard implementers, a revision of IEC 61000-6-6 is proposed to explicitly define the basis for establishing conducted environments at each test port.
