Abstract
Guide dogs are widely regarded as the optimal solution for assisting the mobility of visually impaired individuals. To address the inherent limitations of conventional guide dogs, such as high nurture costs and long training time, guide dog robots are currently under development. In this study, field tests were conducted in real-world environments to evaluate the feasibility of these robotic systems, utilizing the comprehensive evaluation criteria established for biological guide dogs. Through these experimental trials, the utility of guide dog robots was validated, and critical technical requirements for future development were identified.
