Abstract
This paper proposes a simulation-based test methodology for verifying peripheral-equipment integration of shipborne VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) mobile stations based on the IEC 63514 draft. A VDES mobile station integrates AIS, ASM, VDE-TER, and VDE-SAT functions, exchanges data with onboard equipment through IEC 61162-1 and IEC 61162-450, and communicates with peer VDES stations, shore stations, and satellite systems through RF/VDL paths. The proposed test environment separates IEC 61162-1 and IEC 61162-450 as independent onboard interfaces and combines them with a peer VDES/shore/satellite emulator and a trace-based test oracle. The oracle evaluates whether each input stimulus produces the expected onboard output, PI binary output, RF link-layer behavior, status response, or configuration result. The proposed method provides a traceable basis for software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop validation before sea trials.
