Abstract
Lawful Interception (LI) for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) has emerged as an important issue in order to prevent criminal activities. However, studies on existing LI techniques have not been carried out on IMS. Existing standards on general IP-based data services also do not specify detailed mechanisms. This paper proposes an SIP-based LI process in IMS. The process carries out LI with the message flow on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Our LI processes resolve the problems in the existing studies, and defines which IMS components should carry out the LI function, and when LI should be invoked and revoked.
