Abstract
With the advancement of edge AI devices, software- defined cameras (SDCs) have been widely adopted in real- time monitoring and safety-related applications. However, as the number of SDCs deployed in the field increases, efficiently maintaining and managing devices, service applications, and AI models has become an important operational challenge. In this paper, we propose an integrated control and management system that supports remote device monitoring, service application management, and AI model management for SDCs. The proposed system consists of SDCs deployed in the field and an integrated control server that manages device status, service applications, and AI models through over-the-air (OTA) updates. In addition, the system provides WebSocket-based bidirectional communica- tion, enabling real-time collection of SDC status information and the delivery of remote control commands. Administrators can monitor device status and control SDC operations through a web- based graphical user interface. Furthermore, we design a layered security procedure that combines device registration, JWT-based WebSocket authentication, and HMAC-based message integrity verification. The proposed system was implemented using an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano-based SDC and a web-based inte- grated control server. The implementation results demonstrate that the proposed system can serve as a practical management framework for remotely operating multiple SDCs while flexibly updating AI service applications and models.
