Abstract
This paper proposes a coverage virtualization concept to realize end-to-end network slicing in a mobile communication system employing Network Controlled Repeaters (NCRs). The coverage spaces formed by NCRs are virtualized and sliced, and the resulting coverage slices are associated with pre-established network slices. This paper introduces the concept of coverage virtualization and relevant service scenarios, and proposes the internal architecture and procedures required at the gNB to support such functionality. Through prototype-based validation, it is demonstrated that the proposed approach can guarantee the target throughput and jitter performance for a specific network slice.
