Abstract
This paper evaluates the virtual frame start (VFS) symbol detection performance of normal and scaled VFS bootstraps in the B2X (broadcast-to-everything) system, where multiple services are simultaneously mapped onto a wideband signal. In the B2X system, the VFS bootstrap serves as a universal entry point for receiver access to services, and VFS structures with various Zadoff–Chu (ZC) sequence lengths are defined. After a wideband fast Fourier transform (FFT), the receiver selectively processes the frequency band of interest. Then, it detects the signaling bits encoded in the VFS symbols using channel estimation based on the VFS bootstrap sequence and a maximum-likelihood (ML) decision rule. This paper presents the symbol error rate (SER) performance of VFS symbol detection with respect to the ZC sequence length in B2X systems.
