Abstract
In B2X (broadcast-to-everything) systems, the virtual frame start (VFS) is a bootstrap signal that provides a universal entry point to the B2X virtual frame. The VFS bootstrap can be either a normal VFS or a scaled VFS, and they can be simultaneously mapped on a wideband frequency spectrum. However, wideband reception requires high sampling rates and computational complexity, making it difficult for a reduced-capability B2X user equipment to process all VFS bootstraps across the entire wideband spectrum. To address this issue, this paper proposes a narrowband filter–based VFS bootstrap receiver that selectively receives only the frequency band assigned to the VFS bootstrap of interest. The proposed receiver enables VFS symbol detection without processing the entire wideband signal, with a slight signal-to-noise ratio loss.
