- Abstract
- Smart building technologies including automation and controls, high-efficiency systems and equipment, and a broadening array of energy management services has been adopted to reduce the energy consumption in buildings. These enhancements are being unified in Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), which are information communication technology (ICT) based hardware and software systems being employed in a holistic approach to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. In this paper, a new distributed BEMS platform is proposed for low-cost, energy-efficient, and secure building energy management and control of multiple buildings from a remote control center over the Internet. © 2011 IEEE.
