Abstract
The ITS is aiming to reduce accidents, inform travel time, delays and congestion, and improve safety without additional construction of new roadway. IT-convergence ITS technology is based on the vehicle communication systems. The purpose of this paper is to present some analysis results about the multi-hop tests using WAVE(Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) system called VMC(Vehicle Multi-hop Communications) systems in Korea. When multiple vehicles exist out of one-hop communication zone, the system needs multi-hop transmission. This study attempts to measure the multi-hop delay of WAVE systems as increasing the hop counts. We have configured 5 hop communication networks and developed the multi-hop forward algorithm to relay to next nodes. We tested to deliver data using WSMP configured indoor test-bed and outdoor test-bed. Then we have measured to five hop delay. In addition, the possibility applying to safety application of this algorithm is explored, and recommendations are made to several applications for increasing driver's safety.
