Abstract
We present a novel blood filter device which is actuated by simple magnetic squeezing to layered membranes. The filter gives a good performance in high plasma recovery yield (~25%), nearly-perfect filtering efficiency (~100%), low blood consumption (<50μl), fast operation (<1 min.). Performance of the filter was tested for various geometrical and operational parameters. The filter is designed for disposable and versatile usage, and it is applied to a CMOS FET-based nanowire biosensor. © 2011 IEEE.
