Abstract
As various mobile message delivery services such as social network service, mobile instant messaging service, and email, are used widely on mobile devices, the message delivery mechanism has some effect on mobile data traffic in mobile network, battery consumption in mobile device, message delivery prompt, and so on. The present popular message delivery mechanisms are polling and pushing, which has its own strength and weakness. In this paper, a unified push mechanism is introduced as an enhanced message delivery mechanism in the viewpoint of mobile data traffic, battery consumption, and message delivery prompt. It also provides introduction to each mechanism, message delivery procedure, and its own characteristics.
