제 1장에서는 웹 브라우저에 보안기능의 제공을 위한 보안 프록시 서버 및 프로 토콜의 개발 그리고 웹 서버측의 최종 프로그램에서 보안 기능 제공을 위한 라이 브러리 함수의 개발을 기술하였다. 제 2장에서는 윈도우 NT의 출시로 인트라넷 구축이 용이해졌고, 웹 서버의 다양 한 정보의 제공으로 복잡해진 웹서버의 부하를 줄이기 위해 CGI 프로그램을 독립 된 시스템에 설치, 해커의 침입이 용이한 웹서버로부터 보안을 요구하는 데이터를 독립된 시스템에 설치 관리하는 현재 상황을 고려하여 웹 브라우져와 웹 서버 사 이의 통신 뿐만 아니라 인트라넷에서도 보안을 지원할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 구 현하였다. 제 3장에서는 공중망 또는 사설망을 이용하여 데이터를 교환하는 응용에 대하 여, 인증보안시스템은 응용 개발자와 사용자가 암호화와 키 관리의 복잡한 과정을 숨김으로써 고수준의 응용 인터페이스를 통하여 인증과 프라이버시 등의 특성을 제공한다. 제 4장에서는 오프라인 전자현금 시스템에 관한 것으로서 전자 화폐의 위조불 가, 익명성, 이중 사용 탐지, 누명 불가 등을 만족시키며, 오프라인 방식의 전자 화폐 사용을 편리하게 하기 위해 전자 화폐의 전이성 및 분할성 기능을 제공한다.
