가. 연구의 목적 ㆍ 차세대 광대역 위성통신시스템의 선행연구 ㆍ Ka 대역 광대역 Direct MODEM 기술 개발 나. 연구의 중요성 ㆍ 우리나라의 국가우주개발 중장기 세부 실천 계획에 따라 추진되는 범 부처 사업인 통신해양기상위성 개발의 통신시스템 개발 타당성 및 개발 방안 수립이 요구됨 ㆍ 지상멀티미디어 서비스 출현에 따른 고속 데이터 전송 요구로 전송데이터 점유 대역폭이 증가되어 중간 주파수 대역의 고 주파수 대역화가 요구됨 ㆍ 휴대/이동
