전통적인 EDA 툴 시장은 지금까지 성능(Speed), 칩면적(Area), 생산성 최적화 등에 초점을 맞춰 발전해 왔다. 하지만 최신 반도체 제품의 높은 집적도 및 빠른 동작속도에 따른 동적 소비전력 증가와 수십 나노급으로 떨어진 공정기술에 의한 누설전류 급증 현상은 과거 무시 가능하였던 전력 문제를 반도체 제품 설계의 핵심 요소로 지목하였다. 여기에 긴 배터리 수명이 핵심 키워드인 IoT시대로의 진입은 저전력 설계의 중요성을 다시 한번 강조하고 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 최신 저전력 SoC 설계 기술 및 벤더사별 파워 인식 EDA 툴 동향을 분석하고, 이를 통한 저전력 설계 가이드라인을 제공하여 다가올 IoT 시대를 준비하는 국내 중소 팹리스 기업의 경쟁력 강화에 도움을 주고자 한다.
